Media: John Fredriksen to buy Seadrill's canceled ships

John Fredriksen is allegedly negotiating contracts for drilling vessels worth USD 2.1 billion, reports Dagens Næringsliv. The contracts were canceled by Seadrill.

Contracts concerning four drilling vessels could soon come under new ownership with John Fredriksen behind the scenes. According to Norwegian media Dagens Næringsliv, a company affiliated with John Fredriksen's privately held Hemen Investments is negotiating to take over the vessels from the two South Korean yards Samsung and Daewoo.

This is evident from US court documents that the Norwegian media has obtained. None of the parties wish to comment.
