Fred. Olsen bags major contract to install offshore wind farm

Offshore service operator Fred. Olsen has been tasked with installing 100 wind turbines at the UK's facility Moray East. Work on the project will begin in early 2021.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will install the hitherto largest offshore wind farm featuring MHI Vestas turbines. The company, a subsidiary of Norwegian shipping group Fred. Olsen, has received an installation contract for the 950 MW offshore wind farm Moray East, says Fred Olsen Windcarrier in a statement.

The service operator will begin installing the 100 9.5 MW machines from early 2021 and will use one of its largest jack-up rigs – probably either Brave Tern, Bold Tern, or the most recent addition to the fleet, Blue Tern – for the job, based out of Scottish port town Invergordon, the facility's assembly port.
