Gas leak at Tyra field had two people in mortal danger

Two people could reportedly have been killed at Danish gas field Tyra in the spring, when methane seeped into the atmosphere during a drilling, shows right of access to documents. Operator Total deems the leak "highly unusual".

Two people were in mortal danger at Danish gas field Tyra in the spring, when gas suddenly seeped up into the atmosphere during a drilling.

The gas leak lasted for up to half an hour and could have developed into a fatal accident. Specifically, it happened in the late morning on May 27, while field operator Total was shutting the field down in connection with a major redevelopment effort ahead of 2022, according to a right of access to documents obtained by EnergyWatch and ShippingWatch.
