Danish oil extraction to stop completely in 2050 – license tenders disappear

Denmark puts an end to all oil extraction on the Danish continental shelf by 2050 at the latest and halts all upcoming tenders. The decision only further highlights the investment decisions made in recent years, suppliers tell ShippingWatch.

The Danish government will put an end to all oil and gas extraction on the Danish continental shelf from 2050, albeit with the exception of one voluntary agreement with a company regarding a single permit running until 2052.

The agreement draws the final line for Denmark's oil and gas extraction that has gilded the state since the '70s.
