Norway awards oil licenses to seven companies

Equinor, Shell, Ineos and Vår Energi are among the companies awarded exploration and production rights in Norway's 25th licensing round to drill for fossil fuel on the Norwegian continental shelf.


Seven companies have been offered shares in four production licenses issued as part of Norway's most recent round of licensing.

For this round, companies were able to apply for nine different areas while the licenses in question are limited to four areas, one in the Norwegian Sea and three in the Barents Sea.
