With a historical success rate in the last five years on the Norwegian shelf, Statoil plans to open 20-25 new exploration wells next year, says the company in a press release.
Statoil will open 5-7 new wells in the Barents Sea in order to test the potential of the Hoop region, and regions bordering the current extraction region in the Johan Castberg field. In the Hoop field, explorations will take place in the Atlantis and Apollo prospects, located 50 kilometers north of the so-called PL537 region, and in Johan Castberg the test extractions will be done in Skavl, where drilling is already underway, as well as in Kramsø and Drivis.
