
A new discovery near the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea could prove decisive in terms of Statoil's further actions in the promising field.
The Skavl prospect in license 532 near the Johan Castberg field turned out to contain between 20 and 50 million barrels of recoverable oil, according to Statoil, as well as two considerable gas columns of 22 and 23 meters, respectively.
