Statoil behind new oil and gas discovery in the North Sea

Statoil and its partners have made new oil and gas discoveries in the Askja prospect in the North Sea.

Norwegian oil giant Statoil, along with the company's two partners - Svenska Petroleum Exploration AS and Det norske oljeselskap ASA - has discovered gas in Askja West and oil in Askja East, says Statoil in a press release.

The Askja prospect is located in the PL272 license in the North Sea.
