Statoil breathes life into 31-year-old discovery

Alfa Sentral was discovered in 1984. Now it is time to develop the field, says Statoil.

The oil industry operates with long time frames, but the time frame for Alfa Sentral cannot be considered business as usual.

Norwegian industry media reports that Statoil has decided to breathe new life into the discovery, which was made in 1984. The 31-year-old discovery consists of condensates and gas, and lies near the Sleipner platform, located on both the Norwegian and British shelf in the North Sea.
