Aker pushes for merger of Norwegian offshore carriers

On Monday, creditors rejected the rescue plan at offshore carrier Rem Offshore. Now Kjell Inge Røkke and his Norwegian oil company Aker are waiting in the wings. Aker is pushing for a merger of Rem Offshore and another ailing Norwegian player, writes media Sysla.

The creditors at Rem Offshore rejected the rescue plan for the Norwegian offshore carrier this Monday, writes local Norwegian media Sunnmørsposten.

Like many of its peers, the company is struggling with weak activity in the oil sector, and for this reason senior management sent a plan for restructuring to a vote. After the vote, it was clear that there was no support for the proposal among bondholders.
