Seadrill in conflict with Mexican energy company

Drilling unit Seadrill is left with yet another unemployed drilling rig after Mexico's Pemex Exploracion y Servicios has prematurely canceled a contract with the driller.. Seadrill disputes the termination and is considering its legal options.

Mexican oil company Pemex Exploracion y Servicios has prematurely canceled a contract with Seadrill for the drilling rig West Pegasus, informs Seadrill in a notice to the Oslo Stock Exchange on Monday.

In the second quarter 2015, Seadrill and Pemex signed a two-year contract extension for the rig, an agreement which also saw Seadrill and its partly-owned subsidiary Seamex reduce daily rates on an additional five jack-up rigs for 365 days.
