Media: Maersk deal in Iran could be close

Iranian media outlets write that Maersk Oil could be poised to sign a more formal deal for the development of the large South Pars oil field. The company has already signed a memorandum of understanding.

Denmark's Maersk Oil has been negotiating for many months with Iranian oil authorities to develop parts of the large South Pars oil field.

It emerged in October that Maersk Oil has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Iranian state-owned oil company NIOC to explore the opportunities for oil and gas extraction in waters off the coast of Iran.
