"Maersk Oil is demonstrating its ability to deliver results in a difficult market"

The first quarter sparked ambition at Maersk Oil which has an optimistic view on the rest of the year, according to Maersk Oil CEO Gretchen Watkins.

The oil business at Maersk had an excellent first quarter 2017 in which the result rose to USD 328 million (EUR 299 million) from a loss of USD 29 million in the previous year.

Part of the explanation is that Maersk Oil made proceeds of USD 36 million from the sale of the Boa field along with USD 42 million in a one-off tax income. But this does not stop Maersk Oil CEO Gretchen Watkins from celebrating.
