Asian ports offer shippers the most connectivity

A new survey shows Asian ports offer shippers the largest choice of destinations and calls in the world. Only one European port is in the global top ten of the best-connected ports, writes Drewry.

The world's largest port, Shanghai, is also the world's best connected container hub, reveals a new survey performed by firm Drewry.

The new analysis is based on the number of connections, departures and arrivals per week rather than the volumes and size of the vessels which call at the port. This means that even though a port is not the largest in volume and vessel size, it could offer better connectivity than the largest ports, and thus offer better services to the world's shippers.
