Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates will ban the use of open-loop scrubbers. The ban was disclosed in a document sent from the port to its customers, which also shipping and logistics company GAC has informed its customers about.

This means that vessels in the port must sail on fuel compliant with the IMO regulations once the new sulfur cap takes effect in 2020.
