Ports urge EU countries to allow crew changes in all ports

Port organizations ESPO and Feport urge EU member states to allow crew changes in all ports during the corona crisis. The call comes in response to a proposal by the European Commission.

It is far from sufficient that crew changes can only be conducted in a few, select number of ports. EU member states should instead enable crew changes in all ports, urge port organizations ESPO and Feport.

According to the organizations, it is essential to ensure the continuity of the European supply chains by allowing all ports to carry out crew changes amid the corona crisis. Member states should also collaborate to make it as easy as possible for crews to cross borders in order to get to the ports.
