Maersk Line's control of the most important international container terminals through its port business APM Terminals, along with the favorable economic conditions the carrier likely benefits from, contribute significantly to the carrier's strong operating profit, which is far above the industry average, says Alphaliner.

The analyst agency estimates that Maersk Line, thanks to APM Terminals, saves more than USD 100 million in costs every single quarter - a result that none of the competitors are able to match.
