Transport workers welcome new deal in US port conflict

New five-year contract covering workers at all 29 West Coast ports of the USA has been reached between transport workers and shippers in Pacific Maritime Association.

The protracted labor conflict in 29 ports on the US West coast is over.

The international Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) has welcomed a tentative agreement struck between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) on a new five-year contract covering workers at all 29 West Coast ports of the USA, according to a statement issued by the ITF.
