Drewry: Cancellations will continue

The number of cancelled sailings has increased during the previous months; a development which will continue, Drewry predicts.

Approximately 150 sailings were cancelled on the transpacific and Asia-Europe routes from October last year to February this year. The cancellations have had an impact on freight rates and the level of service shippers have been able to expect, Drewry states based on different statistics, Hellenic Shipping News reports. Now, the analyst company predicts that carriers will probably continue to cancel trips to avoid withdrawing entire routes which has led to many discussions.
