Shell CEO promises stronger climate efforts but still appeals court ruling

Oil company Shell will speed up its decarbonization efforts, but still plans to appeal the Dutch court ruling, which requires the company to strengthen its climate policy, informs CEO Ben van Beurden on LinkedIn. The oil industry is under pressure to adjust to the green transition.

Following last month's ruling ordering Shell to reduce CO2 emissions much faster than the oil company had planned, CEO Ben van Beurden now promises to step up the oil giant's climate efforts.

However, Shell also immediately announced that the company plans to appeal the Dutch ruling.
