Wärtsila borrows €150 million for research and development

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a €150 million loan to Wärtsila. The company will use the money to develop its activities in research and development, Wärtsila informs.

The Finnish company Wärtsila has just been granted a €150 million loan by The European Investment Bank (EIB) to develop its activities in research and development in several European countries, Wärtsila informs in a press release. The loan will help the company to continue its efforts to develop its motors, which may help the shipping industry once the new emission requirements take effect.

This is expected to increase demand for more energy-efficient motors. The new loan agreement is the fourth agreement of its kind between EIB and Wärtsila. The first agreement was signed in 2003.
