Pirate hunters to train and prepare

A handful of former soldiers from the Danish Navy who since 2008 has taken part in a number of military operations against pirates in the Gulf of Aden have established the consulting company Citadel Solutions in March 2011. They train and prepare ship crews on a scenario in which they are being attacked from pirates and they advise them on risks and designs of ships.

“We help with anything from the psychological to the more serious aspects for example spotting the right places to weld on bullet-proof armour. We are capable of preparing both the ship and the crew” says Managing Director of Citadel Solution, Søren Christian Bech.

He has been in the Navy for 14 years and rose to the rank of lieutenant-commander. In his career, he was engaged in several piracy missions – e.g. in 2008 where Danish forces protected ships from the United Nations Food Programme.
