Danish ship owners welcome new EU proposal

The Danish Shipowners’ Association is positive towards the EU proposal on implementing new EU regulation on ship scrapping even though an IMO agreement is preferable.

Friday, the European Commission presented a proposal for more strict regulation on ship scrapping. The Danish Shipowners’ Association welcomes the resolution and has started its own efforts on creating best practises in the sector, Deputy Director General, Jan Fritz Hansen tells Shippingwatch.

“In principle, we consider it a positive move. We are already engaged in continuously strengthening our common experiences on the subject in order to do it with a certain quality”, Jan Fritz Hansen said on Monday
