The Danish news site, Aktiefokus, has gained insight into the container futures rates and can now report that levels have been raised following the Shanghai-settlement, but also that dwindling rates have been projected. The container futures of April were trading at (bids/offers) $1550-1650 per TEU for freight from Asia to Northern Europe, which is 150 dollars more than Thursday’s bids/offers.

On Friday, the container futures for May were trading at $1550-1650 per TEU for Asia/Europe. Container futures for the third quarter are trading at $1575-1675 per TEU. In the fourth quarter, the price level will decrease to $1300-1425. However, speaking to Aktiefokus, a container-derivatives trader states that there is a good chance the container rates could see a significant raise once again next week.
