Norden eyes booming market for the transportation of biomass

The sharpened demands for European power stations/ CPH plants create a new and promising market for Norden: the transportation of biomass such as wood chips. This year the shipping company expects to transport three times as much biomass as last year.

Contracts for the transportation of wood chips are becoming increasingly significant in Norden’s cargo book. According to the shipping company’s magazine, “Norden News”, the company expects to transport three times as much biomass in 2012 as they did in 2011, the year the shipping company entered the biomass market.

“We constantly receive enquiries from new players in the market, who are interested in receiving an offer for transport of biomass from us,” head of Norden’s Handysize pool, Vice President Christian Ingerslev, tells the magazine.
