Danish Shipowners’ Association: A lighthouse has been put out

The President of the Danish Shipowners’ Association, Carsten Mortensen, compares Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller to C. F. Tietgen. A personality who was an icon and an inspiration to many young people.

One of the most significant personalities of business has died. A personality that bears comparisons to C. F. Tietgen, says the President of the Danish Shipowners’ Association and CEO of Norden, Carsten Mortensen.

“A lighthouse has been turned off. He has had an absolutely crucial impact not only on the shipping industry, but on Danish business in general. He has been a beacon on the horizon. An inspiration for young people, he has been important way beyond the Maersk Group and he has been a major influence on Danish shipping in general,” says Carsten Mortensen, who is one of many executives in Danish and international shipping with a background in A. P. Moller-Maersk:
