SeaIntel: 74 giant container ships in pipeline

According to Lars Jensen from SeaIntel, the effects of the container carriers rate increases will end during 2012 and the market will see a risk of a new price war when ships will have too little cargo.

74 new giant container ships, called Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCV) carrying more than 10,000 TEU, will be delivered from shipyards and deployed in the already crammed container fleet during 2012, primarily on the routes between Asia and Europe. This is the conclusion in the latest calculation from the market research company SeaIntel.
