
DFDS has gone from profit to loss when comparing pre-tax results from the first quarter of 2011 to those of the first quarter of 2012. In the first quarter of 2012, the shipping company has recorded a pre-tax loss of USD 16.7 million compared to a profit of USD 1.2 million in 2011.
“2012 has begun with some headwind, but we are more efficient than before and financially very solid. DFDS is therefore in a strong position, and that means that we can continue to pursue the right opportunities for consolidation in the market”, DFDS CEO, Niels Smedegaard, states in the first quarter report.
