Maersk invests USD 7.6 billion in fleet up until 2015

Maersk Group CEO Nils Smedegaard Andersen outlines the Group’s investment plan for the period up until 2015. Total investments of USD 7.6 billion.

Maersk Line makes up more than half of the Maersk Group’s total investment program in ships and rigs. Total amount invested until 2015 will be USD 7.6 billion. Of this, USD 4.3 billion will be invested in new container ships, including the 20 new Triple-E ships.

This was revealed on Thursday, in a presentation given by the Maersk Group CEO for the Danish Society of Financial Analysts, on the so-called Corporate Day. At the end of the first quarter of 2012, the Group’s order book contains approximately 60 new ships, rigs, and tugboats, for delivery over the next 3-4 years for a contract price of approximately USD 7.6 billion.
