DFDS executive: Keeping Volvo deal is not a given

It was far from guaranteed that DFDS would enter into a transportation contract with Volvo Cars and Volvo Group Logistics last week, says Peder Gellert Pedersen, Executive Vice President of DFDS’ shipping division, to ShippingWatch.

Even though DFDS has held a transportation deal with Volvo for several years, it was still a great success for Peder Gellert Pedersen to be able to announce DFDS’ contract with Volvo Cars and Volvo Group Logistics last week.

“The fact that the deal would expire at the same time as Volvo Group Logistics lost their agreement with Volvo Cars definitely presented a risk. Therefore, it is most certainly not a given that you get to keep that sort of a deal. Sometimes we fight more to keep a deal than to secure a new one,” says Peder Gellert Pedersen, Executive Vice President of DFDS’ shipping division, to ShippingWatch.
