APM Terminals welcome new Virginia deadline

APM Terminals are pleased with the extension of the deadline for bids from private investors to run the Port of Virginia, writes the company’s President of the Americas Region to ShippingWatch.

Even though the bidding process for the operation of the Port of Virginia is not entering the next phase as quickly as APM Terminals may have hoped, the terminal operator is not disappointed with the extension of the deadline for bids which was made public on Wednesday night, local Danish time.

“Since the announcement by the Commonwealth of the receipt of our proposal and the PPTA (Public-Private Transportation Act) process timeline there have been a number of comments about whether sufficient time as been allotted others to submit alternative proposals.  The PPTA Office has announced an extension of time for others to submit conceptual proposals.  We welcome this extension,” writes Eric Sisco, President of APM Terminals’ Americas Region to ShippingWatch.
