415 ships scrapped in India since 2011

Since 2011, 415 ships have been scrapped at breaking sites in Alang in India and another 150 ships are in waiting. India’s “industrial wasteland”, as it has been referred to, continues to be the site where most ship scrappings occur.

Indian is still in the unassailable yet dubious leading position when it comes to the countries which scrap the most ships. 415 ships in total were scrapped at breaking sites in Alang in 2011-2012, writes The Asian Age. Another 150 are waiting to be scrapped at these facilities, which have on several occasions been exposed as scandalous.
