
In October, Desmi Ocean Guard will by all accounts be ready to sell ballast water treatment systems. The marketing process has already begun but the lacking ratification of the ballast water convention and the hesitant shipowners make it difficult to predict whether Desmi Ocean Guard will experience the success story they are hoping for.
A final approval from the IMO and a type approval from Lloyd’s Register and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency are needed for Desmi Ocean Guard to begin marketing and selling its ballast water treatment system. Both should be formalities and even though Desmi Ocean Guard expects a good speed when it comes to sales, the uncertainty within the market towards the suppliers of ballast water systems is complicating the arrangement of Desmi’s growth strategy.
