
Not many applications from Danish shipowners have landed in the pile of applications at the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation which has set 22 August as the final deadline for applications this year. This made the Foundation’s Managing Director, Carsten Orth Gaarn-Larsen call for more projects from one of the most influential Danish industries on ShippingWatch this Wednesday.
Deputy Director in the Danish Shipowners Association, Jan Fritz Hansen, agrees that shipowners have not been very active in applying for the means available in the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation and says that it is caused by the shipowners traditionally focusing on the operation of ships while it is more often the suppliers of the “insides” who are working on developing the technologically advanced products.
