Bimco: Up to Europe to save container rates

The European economy has taken container shipping demand hostage and only changes in this can turn the container market around, Bimco states in a container market analysis.

Alphaliner has announced that the capacity on Asia-Europe will have to be significantly reduced if container carriers are to have even a remote chance of keeping their earning levels. Bimco supports the drastic announcement in its latest analysis of the container market.

Bimco underlines how difficult it is to balance supply and demand when the demand on freight from Asia and Europe disappears as sudden as it has been the case during the summer resulting in the freight rates being pushed in a limbo according to Bimco.
