
The shipyards of the Norwegian Bergen Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on joint ownership with a major European ship builder, the listed Norwegian shipyard and offshore group said on Tuesday. The memorandum ensures that the new industrial group will become major shareholder of the shipyard division of Bergen which is today a wholly-owned subsidiary company within the Bergen Group and which comprises the two newbuilding yards Bergen Group Fosen and Bergen Group BMW.
"Bergen Group has earlier announced the search for an industrial partner with ship hull building capacity and competence in Europe. We have now signed a MoU with a well-established international group we strongly believe will contribute to a further development of Bergen Group`s shipbuilding activities”, Group CEO Terje Arnesen says.
