
The international shippers gathered at the Global Shippers Forum (GSF) in London call the announced rate increases of $1500 for transportation of a reefer ‘quite large’, and believe that the individual shipping companies must justify the increases to their customers. If the increases are introduced generally, without any opportunity for the customer to understand the increases, the industry could be looking at a competitive problem.
So says Secretary General of GSF, Chris Welsh, in a comment to ShippingWatch following several announcements or recommendations by shipping companies, and most recently by the Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement, of rate increases of $1500 per reefer.
