Maersk analysts: Continued pitfalls despite bright spots ahead

Even though freight rates on the central Asia-Europe route have increased, they provide no guarantees that the price war has ended.

The freight rates on Asia-Europe, of particular importance to A.P. Moeller – Maersk, have increased markedly during the last two weeks. Thereby, the companies seem to have succeeded in their great rate increase of $500, which was announced on November 1st. It is a positive sign that the industry’s price discipline is back. However, November’s success story is no guarantee that the price war will not break out again, and the analysts are divided on the subject of which way the rates will go.
