One of the main Maersk Line competitors, Mediterranean Shipping Company, MSC is improving its position on a list over the 20 most reliable shipping companies. A list on which Maersk Line and Hamburg Süd have done much better than the global average over the years whereas MSC has taken up a position at the bottom. However, the situation has changed, SeaIntel states. On a monthly basis, SeaIntel is monitoring more than 10,000 ships and the shipping companies’ reliability levels.

The ability of MSC to arrive in time has typically been 15 to 20 percentage point lower than the average in the industry but the newest figures through September 2012 show that the shipping company has freed itself from its position in the bottom and the company is no longer among the three companies with the lowest on-time performance.
