Last Friday, the Danish state-owned energy group, Dong Energy, announced its plans to dismiss as much as 500-600 employees. On Monday the Norwegian oil company Statoil announced its plans to dismiss up to 700 employees, primarily in the oil town Stavanger, the Norwegian newspaper Aftenbladet reports.
Of the 700 positions, 500 are permanent positions whereas 200 are temporary and all the positions are within staff and support functions.
