DFDS: Weak European economy could last another four years

DFDS is “mentally prepared” for a long term European crisis, maybe another three or four years, says the shipping company’s CEO, Niels Smedegaard, in an interview with ShippingWatch.

“A necessary year” says DFDS CEO Niels Smedegaard, referring to 2012, thus setting a modest tone for a year that started out well for the shipping company, but ended with DFDS in heavy competition on two important crossings, between Sweden and Great Britain, and on the English Channel. And things are not looking much better on the European markets when Niels Smedegaard considers the future.
