Scorpio Tankers orders six new eco-ships

Scorpio Tankers has placed orders for six MR product tankers on two different Korean shipyards. All of them are eco-ships.

Scorpio Tankers has long been a proponent for eco-ships and now the tanker carrier adds further six orders of eco-ships to its fleet, the company announces in a Monday press release.

The tanker carrier has ordered two MR product tankers to be built at Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd. in South Korea and an order for four ships to be built at SPP Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. Each of the six eco-ships has a price of USD 33 million and the ships are to be delivered in the second and third quarter of 2014.
