Massive amount of scrappings in November

The amount of container ships sold for demolition in November was the higest monthly number since the summer 2009. The amount of ships sold for demolition makes November the third biggest month for scrapping ever registered, writes Clarksons.

The oversupply of container ships was eased a little in November, as 19 container ships, for a total of 38,822 teu, were sold for demolition, making November the biggest month for demolitions since the summer 2009, and the third biggest registered ever, according to Clarksons Container Intelligence Monthly.

"This brings total containership scrapping to 154 vessels of a combined 285,701 TEU in the first eleven months of 2012," writes the Clarksons analysts.
