Environmental NGO dissapointed by Danish shipping

As one the greatest maritime nations in the world, Danish shipping ought to ensure that shipping contributes to lowering CO2 emissions. The Danes should have pushed to pass new climate goals instead of working toward getting the issue postponed in the EU, says environmental NGO in the EU.

A dual proces has been initiated to regulate the CO2 emissions from the shipping industry. The IMO, most likely based on the United States' proposal for market based goals, is developing a monitoring and reporting system for the shipping industry's emissions, and in the EU the Commission will present a proposal in March that will similarly deal with monitoring of CO2 emissions.

The background for the two processes has made the Brussels NGO Transport And Environment declare its massive dissapointment with the environmental effort supported by Danish shipping businesses.
