
Swiss MSC, which is the third-largest container carrier in the world following CMA CGM and Maersk Line, was the carrier which pulled out the highest number of ships in 2012. A total of 21 ships with an overall capacity of 46,626 teu were scrapped which made room for a part of the shipping company’s massive newbuilding programme of which 215,000 teu were delivered in 2012, Alphaliner reports on Tuesday.
Moreover, MSC, Mediterranean Shipping Company, returned chartered ships of a total of 320,000 teu to their owners during the year.
