
The Danish Shipowners’ Association is positive towards the proposal presented yesterday by the European Commissioner for Transportation, Siim Kallas, to use a couple of billion euro to create a core network of ports with LNG bunker facilities. In a new proposal, the European Commission has selected 139 concrete ports which are to form a LNG network in Europe and in this way kick-start the shipping industry’s usage of LNG as fuel.
“Out of principle, we think that LNG is a good tool so in general we are positive towards the proposal,” Simon Bergulf, the Danish Shipowners’ Association’s representative in Brussels, tells ShippingWatch.
