Shipowners: We need to keep recruiting

There is no shortage of applicants for the shipping trainee programs, still, focus needs to stay on the programs in order to reach other demographics, says the Danish Shipowners’ Association.

Even though the shipping companies are not even close to a lack of applicants for the positions in their training programs for shipping trainees, shipping still needs to remain a focus in the recruiting program World Careers – a collaboration between several businesses in the industry, which have been working to expand the career opportunities for young people in the Danish maritime cluster since 2006.

“There’s no doubt that, when it comes to shipping, we’re now fairly well lodged in the minds of the young people,” says Anne Bay Riisager, head of the campaign for the Danish Shipowners’ Association.
