Wärtsila to spend millions on new engines R&D

Wärtsila has agreed to a EUR 50 million loan in Nordic Investment Bank in order to strengthen the company’s research and development efforts within marine and energy engines.

In the years to come, Wärtsila will spend the EUR 50 million on “strengthening its technology leadership position in the global marine and energy markets,” the company states in a press release.

The money will be spend to develop Wärtsila's medium-speed engine technology in terms of efficiency, reliability and environmental performance, as well as in reducing lifecycle costs.
