
Norwegian shipyards had been looking forward to today’s Statoil decision with excitement. Statoil was to decide if the Dagny platform was to be built by the Norwegian maritime cluster or if it was to be built abroad.
Statoil decided to go with South Korean Daewoo and thereby, the Norwegian shipyards were left with disappointment for the fifth time within a few months. Now, the shipyards fear that if major contracts keep ending up with foreign companies, it may affect the Norwegian maritime cluster negatively.
