The new Maersk Line giant container ships of the Triple-E class are far from the only giants being built and deployed in global container traffic during 2013. According to SeaIntel, as much as 46 of the largest container ships of more than 10,000 teu will be finalised and deployed in 2013; most likely on Asia-Europe. The Triple-Es, with a capacity of 18,000, will be the largest vessels by far but still, the capacity of the other vessels is so large that SeaIntel states that the only sensible place to deploy them is on the long distance from Asia to Europe where the necessary port facilities are in place.
